Apr 2007

PPPEA Members met with representatives of the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to discuss a host of traffic related issues in Pasir Panjang and surrounding areas. Some critical issues which we are most concerned with are as follows:

  1. The multiple junctions franked by South Buona Vista Rd, Pasir Panjang Road and West Coast Highway. Members of PPPEA have witness a number of accidents and near misses taken place at this junction. LTA appreciated the issue and fixed a site meeting immediately.
  2. Illegal Parking along Pasir Panjang Rd (between O'Connor House and Hakim Restaurant which hinders motorists making U-turns back to the direction of West Coast Highway.
  3. Illegal Parking at Clementi Road where the nasi lemak and prata stalls are operating. Cars not only double parked but treble parked as well. This has posed a danger to fast moving vehicles coming from Commonwealth Avenue.

For details of these and other traffic issues, click here for the full minutes of that meeting.

The good news arising from this meeting was that LTA announced the completion of a U-turn as we exit the West Coast Highway (Jurong Bound). In a previous meeting, PPPEA had prompted LTA to construct such a U-turn. We are most appreciative of it!

Jan 2007

PPPEA Members met with government agencies, the Maritime Port Authority, MPA. Also present were representtives from URA and NParks. This was a follow up to the first meeting held in July 2006, and at the same time, to bring up relevant issues raised by the Pasir Panjang residents with regard to Pasir Panjang Phase III and IV Port Development.

Phase III and IV port development will impact Pasir Panjang / West Coast residents more than Phase I and II. PPPEA Members acknowledge and accept the importance of progress to the Nation. However we propose that a wider buffer zone be provided between the residential zone and the port operational zone. The buffer zone will provide the missing piece that will link up Tg Belayar/Labrador, Pasir Panjang, West Coast and Keng Ridge Parks. Recreational space could be provided besides, seafood restaurants and al fresco dining. For further details on our proposals, please click here for an extract of our minutes.
